Coverage:
- This health guarantee is only valid for puppies delivered and residing within the continental United States.
- The guarantee is transferable for the Pet Insurance portion, but not for the health guarantee itself.
- Different coverage applies depending on the time frame:
- First 72 hours: Reimbursement for fair and reasonable documented veterinary expenses for treatment of life-threatening illness, contagious or infectious disease, up to the purchase price of the puppy, excluding deductibles and uncovered percentages of pet insurance and parasites.
- First 14 Days: Reimbursement for fair and reasonable documented veterinary expenses for treatment of life-threatening illness caused by a PCR test administered within 7 days of arrival (excluding initial fecal float exam), up to the purchase price of the puppy, excluding deductibles and uncovered percentages of pet insurance and life-threatening blood parasites.
- First Year (Breeder responsible): Reimbursement for fair and reasonable documented veterinary expenses for treatment of a hereditary or congenital disorder diagnosed by two licensed veterinarians, up to the purchase price of the puppy, or a replacement puppy of equal value. Requires veterinarian’s written report within 5 days of diagnosis.
- Years 2 & 3 (Puppy Link responsible): Credit towards another puppy purchase or reimbursement for treatment of a hereditary or congenital disorder diagnosed by two licensed veterinarians, up to 50% of the purchase price for credit or 25% for reimbursement. Requires veterinarian’s written report within 5 days of diagnosis. (Does not apply to Bulldogs)
- Extended Guarantee (optional purchase): Extends Years 2 & 3 coverage based on the extension purchased, up to the puppy’s 10th birthday.
Prescription Reimbursement Program (separate from pet insurance):
- Offered by Puppy Link for specific puppy ailments to ensure the veterinarian’s prescribed treatment plan is followed.
- Requires a veterinarian’s prescription for a listed medication as the first-choice treatment, not covered by pet insurance.
- Covers one incident per covered ailment per puppy.
- Reimbursement up to a set amount for specific ailments (e.g., Giardia, Coccidia, Cough, Ear Infection).
What is not covered:
- Pet insurance deductibles and uncovered percentages.
- Costs of raising a puppy (food, grooming, etc.).
- Injuries or illnesses due to neglect, preventable acts, or car accidents.
- Elective procedures, cosmetic procedures, or preventive procedures (tail docking, ear cropping, etc.).
- Behavioral problems, training, or medications for behavioral issues.
- General appearance, size, weight, or other physical characteristics differing from breed standards.
- Illnesses diagnosed after 7 days (except Parvo) or after the puppy’s third birthday (or first birthday for Bulldogs).
- Diseases not life-threatening or affecting the puppy’s health.
- Certain breed-specific ailments (e.g., epilepsy, hip dysplasia, bloat).
- Stress-related illnesses.
- Parvo diagnosed after 72 hours (specific test required).
- Coccidia diagnosed by SNAP test (specific test required).
- Low blood sugar, hernias (except umbilical identified before initial vet exam), pre-existing conditions.
- Breed-specific health ailments.
- Results of genetic testing.
- Cancer.
- Coronavirus.
- X-rays.
